Freshman C.J. Bryce filled up the stat sheet in UNCW's 94-73 demolition of East Tennessee State over the weekend and the Colonial Athletic Association honored the UNCW newcomer from Charlotte with its CAA Rookie-of-the-Week accolade early Monday.
Bryce, a 6-5, 180-pound guard, posted career-highs of 14 points and six rebounds, and added three assists and three steals in just 21 minutes against the Buccaneers as the Seahawks remained perfect at 4-0 on the season.
"I'm very excited for C.J.," said second-year UNCW Head Coach Kevin Keatts. "He did a great job in Saturday's game. He's playing consistent on both ends of the floor, especially on the defensive end. He's going to continue to get better and better from every practice to every game."
Bryce is the only player to start all four contests for the Seahawks and is averaging 7.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.8 steals.
The former North Mecklenburg High School standout becomes UNCW's 16th CAA Rookie-of-the-Week selection and the first since current playmaker Jordon Talley collected the honor on Feb. 16, 2015.
