WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Senior forward Dakota Dukes scored a game-high 20 points, including the 1,000th of her college career, and grabbed eight rebounds as Davidson earned its third win in a row, a 77-50 victory over UNCW to close out the UNCW Hampton Inn Thanksgiving Classic at Trask Coliseum on Saturday afternoon.

Led by Dukes, who posted her second 20-point game in the last three outings, the Wildcats improved to 4-2 on the season. Meanwhile, the Seahawks dropped to 2-2 on the season.

One of three Wildcats to score in double figures, Dukes made six of nine shots from the floor and all eight of her free throw attempts. She also led Davidson with eight rebounds while contributing three blocked shots. 

Senior forward Hannah Early added 13 points with seven rebounds for Davidson while sophomore forward Mackenzie Latt made four of seven shots from the floor, including one of two three-point attempts, with four of six free throws en route to a 13-point effort.

Junior forward Jordan Henry posted her third “double double” in the last four games for the Seahawks, scoring a career-high 16 points with 10 rebounds. She also added a career-high three blocked shots with two steals.

Senior guard Shatia Cole contributed a season-high 17 points by making 5 of 12 field goal attempts, including a 3-for-6 performance from long range, while converting all four of her free throw attempts.

How It Happened: Dukes scored 14 of her 20 points in the first half as the Wildcats surged to a 45-25 lead in the first half. Davidson never trailed in the contest and led by as many as 29 points in the fourth quarter.  

#SeahawkStats: Davidson and UNCW met for the first time since 2002 … The Wildcats earned their fourth win in the series, but UNCW still holds a slim 5-4 advantage … The Seahawks had a four-game home win streak snapped, dating back to last season … Henry has scored in double figures in all four games this season … She has also recorded five blocked shots in the last two games … Cole made her first start of the season for UNCW … Davidson shot a season-high 50.9 percent from the field.
