Sarah Mather may not have become the next "American Idol," but she's still a star to her fans here in Wilmington. In fact, the local singer is set to perform as part of this year's Azalea Festival.

News 6's Elizabeth Willis interviewed Mather in Los Angeles last month before she performed during the first live "American Idol" episode. Unfortunately, Mather's performance didn't generate enough votes to keep her on the popular talent show.

Since being voted off the show, Mather has been in New York pursuing her music career.

She will return to the Port City next month as a celebrity for the Azalea Festival. She'll also perform a free concert with her former band, Swing
Shift, on Sunday April 10.
