Late goal leads Cougars past UNCW men's soccer 1-0

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Junior forward Hamilton Carlin scored the game's lone goal with 8:03 remaining in regulation as College of Charleston edged UNCW by a 1-0 margin in a Colonial Athletic Association game at UNCW Soccer Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Cougars, who earned their second win in the last three games, improved to 7-6-2 overall while moving into a tie for third place in the CAA with a 4-2-1 mark. Meanwhile, the Seahawks' record dropped to 8-5-3 overall as UNCW moved into fifth place with a 3-4-1 league record.

Carlin tallied his third goal of the season when he took a quick pass from senior forward Adam Purvis and scored on a one-timer shot in front of the goal.

Junior goalkeepers Kevin Shields recorded five saves for Charleston while junior goalkeeper Sean Melvin posted five saves for the Seahawks, who outshot the Cougars by a 14-10 margin.
