Police investigate armed robbery at Wilmington Scotchman

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Police are investigating after a man robbed a Wilmington Scotchman at gunpoint early Wednesday.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, a man wearing a blue hoodie, white bandanna, jeans and dark gloves entered the business, located at 2902 Carolina Beach Road, around 3:21 a.m.

The suspect pointed a handgun at the clerk, and took some cash from the register. He then ran away from the store toward the north side of the business.

Responding officers set up a perimeter around the area and attempted to track the suspect, but were unsuccessful.

    William Huff terrorized Sierra Vista during the spring and summer of 1967. Despite a sentence of 40 years to life, the Arizona Board of Executive Clemency voted to release him from prison into home arrest. Family members of the victims are concerned for the safety of the community, as are new members of the Clemency Board. CBS 5 Investigates videotaped Huff riding a bike through his Tucson neighborhood. There are no restrictions placed on his proximity to children.
