NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) -
Deputies with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Hoggard High School student Wednesday for allegedly beating up another student and robbing him.
According to Lt. Jerry Brewer with the sheriff’s office, the 15-year-old male student was charged with robbery and assault.
EMS took the 17-year-old victim to New Hanover Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for a broken nose and other minor injuries.
Brewer said the investigation is ongoing as they are looking for other potential suspects.
A spokesperson for the New Hanover County School system confirmed a fight took place on campus and the principal would handle disciplinary actions. Initially, the school system indicated there was no robbery involved, but the spokesperson later clarified that statement to say they were not aware of the robbery charge at the time of our inquiry.
