WILMINGTON, North Carolina – With its first official practice in just two days, the UNCW women's basketball team met with the local media on Wednesday afternoon in Trask Coliseum.
The Seahawks, who will hold their first official practice of the season on Friday, Oct. 9, conducted more than 25 interviews with print, electronic and digital media outlets. The team also gathered to have the official team photo taken during the session.
Under the direction of fourth-year Coach Adell Harris, UNCW posted a 14-16 record last year and finished fifth in the Colonial Athletic Association with a 10-8 mark. The Seahawks welcome back eight letter winners, including senior guard Shatia Cole and junior guard Naqaiyyah Teague.
Cole was the team's third-leading scorer a year ago with a 10.2 average while Teague led the squad by grabbing 8.0 rebounds per game.
UNCW has 29 games on its 2015-16 regular season schedule, including 15 home games at Trask Coliseum. The Seahawks see their first game action by hosting Mount Olive in an exhibition contest at Trask Coliseum on Saturday, Nov. 7.
The regular season opener for the Seahawks will take place on Sunday, Nov. 15 against UNC Pembroke at 2 p.m.
