North Carolina for Military Employment held the second of three planned summits on hiring service members and Veterans Tuesday morning.
According to a news release, the event is designed to help NC companies integrate military hiring into their workforce and make annual hiring commitments.
“We’re educating employers on the value of hiring Veterans, and before they leave the room we’re asking them to make a pledge -- to commit to putting an HR strategy in place around hiring service members or Veterans,” Kimberly Lindsay, Executive Director for NC4ME, said.
Industry, government and military leaders shared their knowledge and success stories about how hiring service members and Veterans drives bottom-line business results.
“Don’t hire a Veteran because it’s the right thing to do -- that’s a given, it’s the right thing to do to hire a service member or a Veteran. But hire service members because they can drive bottom-line results in your business,” Lindsay said.
The summit was held at the Union Station Conference Center at Cape Fear Community College.
