WASHINGTON, DC (WECT) -

Not long after Rep. John Boehner announced he was resigning from Congress on October 30, Rep. David Rouzer (R-NC7) released a statement on the Speaker’s decision:

“John Boehner made a selfless and classy act this morning, a reflection of his inner character and care for the U.S. House of Representatives as an institution.  Just like every other member of the House, I appreciate his dedicated service to our country.  As we prepare for a transition in leadership, it’s time to move forward unified and focused on the priorities of the American people.” – Rep. David Rouzer

Rep. Boehner became the 53rd Speaker of the House in January, 2011, after five years as the Minority Leader. He has served as a Representative from Ohio since 2001.
