WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Wilmington police have identified the man found dead in a car off Market Street Tuesday morning.
According to Linda Rawley, spokesperson for the Wilmington Police Department, said Ali Iquan Dameish Rouse, 21, was discovered in the driver's seat of a white Toyota Camry near the 1900 block of Market Street around 11 a.m.. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rawley says Rouse was shot, likely as a result of disturbance at a nearby apartment complex in the 2100 block of Market Street.
Rouse reportedly crashed his vehicle into a Honda CRV, and then hit a brick wall while traveling west on Market Street shortly after the disturbance.
Rawley says no one else was in Rouse's car, and no one was hurt in the CRV.
Authorities are interviewing a person of interest, but no charges have been filed. Rawley says the investigation is on-going.
Market Street, between 18th and 20th streets, was temporarily closed due to the accident.
