UNCW alum to compete in U.S. Women's Open

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Former UNCW women's golf standout Lori Beth Adams will compete as an amateur during the 2015 U.S. Women's Open this week at the Lancaster Country Club.

Adams, who graduated from UNCW in 2014, qualified after claiming one of two spots at a sectional tournament. She fired a two-round score of 76-72=128 during the tournament, which featured 74 participants.

According to UNCW, Adams is one of 25 amateurs to compete in the U.S. Women's Open. She joins Michelle Jarman as the only UNCW women's golfers to compete in the Open. Jarman competed in the 2006 tournament and finished with a two-round total of 167.

The four-day tournament begins Thursday and runs through Sunday. You can watch the third and final rounds of the tournament on Fox Wilmington Saturday and Sunday starting at 2:30 p.m. each day.
