Tabor Correctional sergeant resigns following arrest on drug charges

SCOTLAND COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A sergeant at Tabor Correctional Institution resigned Thursday after being arrested earlier in the week on drug charges, according to a spokesman for the N.C. Department of Public Safety.

Amanda Morgan, 28, of Orrum, was arrested  Monday night during a traffic stop on Highway 74 in Scotland County, according to Capt. Mitch Johnson of the Scotland County Sheriff's Office.

Morgan was charged with felony maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, and felony conspiracy.

Morgan was hired as a correctional officer at TCI in 2008, according to records. She was promoted to sergeant in 2014.
