Seahawks shutout against LSU 2-0 in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, LA (WECT) - The UNCW Seahawks fell to the LSU Tigers 2-0 on Saturday while playing in the Baton Rouge Regional.

LSU's Alex Lange shutout the Seahawks, who were on a seven-game winning streak. He struckout 12 and walked two in the game.

Evan Phillips allowed one run on eight hits and finished the game with three strikeouts.

LSU got three consecutive hits off Phillips to lead off the 7th inning; the third hit from LSU's Chris Chinea would lead to the first score of the game.

This is the first time the Seahawks were shutout since playing against The Citadel on May 8, 2014.

The Seahawks will now move to the elimination game Sunday at 4 p.m. against Tulane. If they win, they will play LSU again at 8 p.m. to see who still has a shot to get to Omaha.
