SOUTHEASTERN NORTH CAROLINA (WECT) - The final topic of the Hurricane Preparedness Week for 2015 is taking action.
FEMA, NOAA, and the North Carolina Emergency Management are just one part of the emergency management team that works to prepare and respond to disaster. A key member of the team is the public by being prepared now so you know what to do when hurricanes strike.
You can take action by sharing with your friends and family that you are ready when a tropical system is moving toward the region by word of mouth, by giving them a call or posting on social media.
Remember, when a watch is issued for your area, you should check your disaster supply kit to make sure nothing is missing from it and be on the ready in the event a warning is issued.
When a warning is issued, make sure your disaster kit is ready for use and if you need to evacuate, you should be bring the supply kit with you and put your family's disaster plan into motion.
