Cathay Rd. stabbing suspect turns himself in

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) -

A suspect wanted in connection to a stabbing on Cathay Road last week turned himself in Thursday morning.

According to Lt. Brewer with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office, Nicholas Daniel Baker, 34, stabbed a man with a knife at a home on Cathay Road near Ventura Drive Friday morning. Baker then reportedly fled on foot.

The victim was taken to the hospital for injuries sustained during the incident.

Brewer says Baker and the victim knew each other.

Baker has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault inflicting serious injury and second degree kidnapping. He was given a $50,000 bond.

Anderson Elementary, Murray Middle and Ashley High School were under a shelter in place while detectives investigated the incident.
