After last year's enthusiastic response from New Hanover County schools, "Human Relations Day" is expected to be equally exciting this year. The event date is Friday, February 18, 2005, at Independence Mall from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. The day will focus on the schools of New Hanover County with displays from each school exhibiting their activities connected with human relations and the 2005 Human Relations' theme: UNITED WE STAND TO MAKE EQUALITY A REALITY.The public at large will have an opportunity to observe how students interpret human relations at their schools.
Following Human Relations Day, several schools will be invited to display their exhibits for viewing at the Commission's Awards Ceremony (including dinner/buffet) on February 26, 2005.
Human Relations Month, sponsored by the New Hanover Human Relations Commission, is declared each February by each local municipality.
Activities in addition to Human Relations include the following: (1) the Human Relations Award Nominations for New Hanover County citizens, the Interfaith Festival, and the Awards Celebration at UNC-W where award recipients will be announced and honored.
