Police investigate shots fired New Year's Eve

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Wilmington Police investigated shots fired New Year's Eve, about a half mile away from where two other shootings have taken place this week.

Crime Scene Investigators were in the area of Metting Road and Darlington Avenue Wednesday evening collecting shell casings from the road. According to Lt. Johnson of the Wilmington Police Department, eight shell casings were found.

Johnson said there were no injuries reported, and no suspect has been located.

This gunfire happened less than half a mile from Henry Street where Tuesday a teenager was shot in the hip and Sunday where another victim was hit by gunfire.

It is unclear if Wednesday's shooting was related to the others.
