WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The body of 20-year-old Dillon Morris was found Saturday in a ravine near the intersection of Lake Branch Drive and East Lake Shore Drive in Wilmington, according to Linda Rawley, WPD spokesperson.
Officers with the Wilmington Police Department were called to respond to the scene around 4:30 p.m. after someone saw the body and called 911.
Police say Morris' death is suspicious and an autopsy will be performed. Police reports and emergency communications made upon finding Morris' body reveal new details about what could have lead to his death.
An event report from New Hanover County dispatch states a caller told police that Morris had been in a fight the previous day and someone threatened to kill him. According to officials, a ShotSpotter alert, a system used to listen for gunfire, was issued earlier in the day near the area where Morris' body was found.
A 911 caller told operators that Morris' "lips were blue" and "bugs were on his face."
Kimberly Hatcher is still in disbelief her baby brother isn't coming home and doesn't understand why anyone would do this.
"He was sweet. He was nice to everybody. He didn't really have a problem with anybody," Hatcher explained.
Friends and family remember Morris also loved fixing things, rapping and helping people.
