WILMINGTON (UNCW) -

UNCW Press Release:

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Freshman point guard Jordon Talley has been named the Colonial Athletic Association's Men's Basketball Rookie-of-the-Week following an outstanding performance in Sunday night's close loss to No. 4 Louisville.

A graduate of Henrico High School in Richmond, Va., Talley scored a career-high 13 points and dished out three assists in UNCW's 68-57 defeat to the Cardinals. He tallied 10 of his points in the second half as the Seahawks rallied to within 52-50 with 6:50 to play before 20,913 fans at the KFC Yum! Center

The 6-0, 180-pounder finished 6-of-14 from the floor and made his only three-point attempt while playing a career-high 26 minutes off the bench.

“I thought Jordon Talley matured as a freshman in the game at Louisville,” said first-year UNCW Head Coach Kevin Keatts. “He played 26 minutes and only turned the ball over four times.”

Talley has played in all six games for the Seahawks and is averaging 6.7 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists early in his career at UNCW.

The Seahawks, who have played five of their first six games on the road, return home to entertain Liberty (Wednesday, Dec. 17, 7:30 p.m.) and East Carolina (Saturday, Dec. 20, 7 p.m.) at Trask Coliseum.

Season tickets remain on sale for UNCW's home games and may be purchased at the UNCW Athletics Ticket Office in Trask Coliseum or by visiting UNCWsports.com. Tickets can also be purchased by calling the UNCW Athletic Ticket Office at 910-962-3233 or 1-800-808-UNCW.
