Correctional officer arrested for providing drugs to inmate

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A correctional officer at the Tabor Correctional Institution was arrested for reportedly providing drugs to an inmate, according to an official with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety.

According to Captain Russell Conway with the Tabor City Police Department, corrections officer Sabrina Wallace was caught giving a Xanax pill to an inmate.

Conway said that Wallace was caught on-camera making the transaction. He said both Wallace and the inmate were cooperative with the investigation into the incident, and that Wallace has accepted responsibility for her actions.

According to the Columbus County Detention Center, Wallace was placed under a $5,000 unsecured bond and charged with providing drugs to an inmate. Conway said Wallace did bond out of jail.
