Shallotte trio busted on heroin charges

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Three Shallotte residents, including two validated gang members, were arrested last Friday by Brunswick County authorities on multiple heroin-related charges.

According to officials, the trio was arrested during a traffic stop on Highway 130 in Ash. Officers recovered 1,600 bags of heroin worth an estimated $50,000.

Officials say the arrests were part of a year long investigation stemming from community complaints and tips.

Lamar McDow, 30, was arrested and charged with:

  • Conspiring to traffic heroin
  • Trafficking heroin
  • Possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver heroin
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of marijuana

McDow is facing a second charge of conspiring to traffic heroin after an incident in July in which more than 8,000 bags of heroin were seized by police.

Officials say McDow is a validated gang member and has been involved in large scale drug activity in Brunswick County. He is currently in jail under a $2.25 million secured bond.

Eddie Lee Hill, 27, was arrested and charged with:

  • Conspiring to traffic heroin
  • Trafficking heroin
  • Possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver heroin

Officials say Hill is also a validated gang member and habitual felon. Hill is currently in jail under a $200,000 secured bond.

Masheka Rena Cobb, 24, was arrested and charged with:

  • Conspiring to traffic heroin
  • Trafficking heroin
  • Possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver heroin

Cobb is currently in jail under a $500,000 secured bond.
