RALEIGH, NC (WECT) - The New Hanover High School men's soccer team traveled to Raleigh Tuesday night to play Broughton for the 4-A East Title.
Broughton got off to a hot start scoring two first-half goals.
Broughton's first goal was scored in 17th minute by Matt Brickhouse, their second by Chris Vlahoplus.
But in the second half New Hanover came back firing.
Ian Bennett scored on a penalty kick and ten minutes later Franco Fernadez weaved his way past the Broughton defense to score an unassisted goal to cut the lead to 3 to 2.
In the end there was just too much Brickhouse for Broughton who scored three times earning a hat trick and earned a trip to the State Title game Saturday.
The final score was 5-2.
