RICHMOND, Va. (November 2, 2014) – The pairings are set for the 2014 CAA Men's Soccer Championship after a regular-season race that came down to the final game.
Delaware (12-5-1, 5-2-1 in CAA) earned the #1 seed and the right to host the semifinals and finals of the tournament after edging Elon 2-1 on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Hens finished in a three-way tie for first with UNCW and Hofstra with 16 points, but UD received the top seed based on its head-to-head wins over the Seahawks and Pride.
UNCW (12-3-2, 5-2-1) is the #2 seed based on its victory over Hofstra and receives a bye into the semifinals. Third-seeded Hofstra (10-5-3, 5-2-1) will host #6 James Madison (7-7-4, 3-3-2) in a quarterfinal match on Saturday at 7 p.m., while fourth-seeded Elon (9-5-4, 4-2-2 in CAA) will entertain #5 Northeastern (7-10-1, 4-3-1 in CAA) at a time to be determined on Saturday.
The semifinals will be played on Friday, November 14 with Delaware meeting the Elon/Northeastern winner and UNCW taking on the Hofstra/JMU winner. The championship game is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 16 and will be televised live on the American Sports Network.
