New movie to begin filming in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A new movie will begin filming in Wilmington during the near future thanks in part to its large fan backing.

According to the Wilmington Regional Film Commission's website, Blue Mountain State - the Movie is in pre-production in Wilmington. Sources say the film will star Alan Ritchson and Denise Richards.

The production was partially funded by a Kickstarter fund that close to 24,000 fans backed raising close to $2 million. On a video posted on the Kickstarter page, actor Alan Ritchson narrates as the creators and other characters in the show explain the film had to be created because the show was cut one year short.

The tv show, which aired on Spike TV, followed players on the Blue Mountain State college football team, but the show never made it to the main characters' senior year.

The creators Romanski and Eric Falconer said the film will follow the lives of the players as they finish out their college career and attempt to move on to the NFL.

The film is accepting resumes for crew members. You can email to apply.
