WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

The process for Cape Fear Community College students looking to make the transition into the University of North Carolina Wilmington just became much easier thanks to leaders at both institutions.

Cape Fear Community College students who earn an associate degree with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above are guaranteed acceptance into UNCW, which, in most cases, is their school of choice, according to Vice President of Cape Fear Community College's Instructional Services Division Dr. Amanda Lee.

The Comprehensive Articulation Agreement, a similar agreement on a statewide level, assures community college graduates acceptance into one of the University of North Carolina institutions, but does not include acceptance into any specific campus or program.

Cape Fear Community College is one of the largest enrolling transfer institutions in the University of North Carolina system, according to college officials.

"This agreement strengthens the pathway for Cape Fear Community College students seeking to earn a degree from University of North Carolina Wilmington," Provost Denise Battles said.
