DAUFUSKIE ISLAND, South Carolina – Freshman Thomas Eldridge carded a one-over-par 73 in the opening round of the Rees Jones Intercollegiate and is in a 10-way tie for ninth after 18 holes. The Seahawks enter the second round in eighth.
Eldridge was one of three Seahawks to record four birdies in the opening round. He birdied three of the final four holes on the back nine after opening the round teeing off hole 10.
Fellow freshman Ross Robison finished the first round four-over-par and is tied for 29th.
Sophomore Thomas Lilly, who is competing as an individual this tournament, is tied for 19th after carding a two-over-par 74.
Co-host Kennesaw State owns a one-stroke lead over East Carolina for the team lead.
East Carolina's Al Dickens tops the leader board by three strokes.
