Mechanical problem causes change on NC ferry route

MANNS HARBOR, NC (AP) - A mechanical problem with the ferry Swan Quarter has led the NC Department of Transportation to adjust the schedule for the Cedar Island-Ocracoke run for the final two weeks of the summer season.
The schedule takes effect beginning Thursday and continues through Sept. 29.
Ferries will leave Cedar Island at 7 a.m., 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. The ferries from Ocracoke will leave at 7:30 a.m., 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m, and 9 p.m.
There are no changes to the Swan Quarter-Cedar Island schedule.
Both Pamlico Sound routes will switch to their published fall schedules as planned on Sept. 30.
