WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

UNCW employees are getting raises, but some will get significantly more money than others.

According to an email obtained by WECT.com, full-time, year-round employees have received an across-the-board salary increase of $1,000, starting in the August paycheck retroactive to July 1.

Meanwhile, the legislation provided a total of $5 million for faculty increases across the whole of the UNC School System.

According to the memo, sent by UNCW's Provost Denise Battles, UNCW's portion of that pool is $245,837. University officials said that's less than the 2 percent raise which was handed out two years ago.

With just over 920 faculty and EPA employees, the raises come out to a few hundred dollars per year, but that's not set in stone.

The University's Board of Governors will meet on September 12, to figure out how they plan to distribute those funds as well as any additional funds the institution is able to identify through internal reallocation.

It is anticipated that EPA/faculty increases will be reflected in the October or November payroll, retroactive to July 1.
