CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) -

Carolina Beach police responded Tuesday night to reports of copper being stolen from the Duke Energy substation on Dow Road.

According to Carolina Beach Police Chief Hinkle, a member of the Duke Energy substation found that copper had been stolen from the building and alerted police.

Officers with the Carolina Beach Police Department arrived around 11 p.m. and found that a "significant" amount of copper was taken.

No other information is known at this time.

The CBPD is continuing their investigation.
