NC Highway Patrol officials have identified the victim in a fatal motorcycle accident that happened on Labor Day in Columbus County.
According to Sgt. David Kinlaw, 62-year-old Edward Earl Lewis of Delco was pronounced dead at the crash site.
It happened just before noon Monday on Hwy. 905 near S.P. Long Road south of Nakina.
Kinlaw said Lewis was ejected from the motorcycle after he ran off the side of the road. What caused Lewis to run off the road was undetermined.
Officials said a passenger on the motorcycle, a 59-year-old woman, was taken to Columbus Regional hospital with minor injuries.
The motorcycle was overturned in a front yard.
