BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) -

Troopers with the NC Highway Patrol say that alcohol was involved in a moped crash that critically injured a Brunswick County man.

Trooper Hooks said Jerry Rock, 43 of Supply, was airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with head injuries and cosmetic damage to his face.

The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. Friday on Waterway Drive SW in the Boone's Neck community near Holden Beach.  

Hooks said it is unclear what caused the accident but said that alcohol was a factor.

Rock will be charged with DWI.

There was no immediate update on Rock's condition at the time of this report.
