First Alert Forecast: summery heat and storms, tracking T. S. Dolly

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Labor Day has come and gone, but a summery high pressure system will remain in control of our weather this week. With it, all will experience heat and some will experience storms.

TUESDAY AFTERNOON: Expect partly sunny skies, hot highs mainly in the lower 90s (heat index values near 100), and a chance for a pop-up heavy storm. Stay hydrated and weather-aware!

EXTENDED: Expect daily highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s for the rest of the week into the weekend. Daily storm chances: 40% Wed and Thu, 20% Fri and Sat.

TROPICS: Tropical Storm Dolly will bring heavy rain and occasional gusty winds to eastern Mexico Tuesday and Wednesday. Elsewhere in the Atlantic Basin: no development.

A seasonably warm and humid summer air mass will govern the Cape Fear Region into the weekend.
