PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) -

A woman from Burgaw was charged by the North Carolina Department of Insurance in connection to insurance fraud.

Cyretta Page, 48, was charged with insurance fraud and obtaining property by false pretense.

Page is accused of submitted nine fraudulent claims to AFLAC Insurance Company between 2012 and 2013, claiming that her dependents received treatment from several Burgaw-area medical providers according to Department of Insurance criminal investigators.

Investigators said AFLAC paid Page $1,125 for the claims before representatives were notified by the health providers that her dependents did not receive care at their facilities.

Page was arrested and placed under a $5,000 bond. She has since bonded out.
