Road work on Hwy. 74 and Nash Road in Cape Girardeau County

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - The Missouri Department of Transportation and crews will be starting shoulder work for a bike trail on Highway 74 in Cape Girardeau. The section runs from fountain Street to Interstate 55.

The work starts at 7 a.m. and lasts until 5 p.m. The work will proceed through Friday, Aug. 22.

The Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad company will be working to replace cross ties near Nash Road. This will impact sections of Nash Road and other downtown riverfront locations near Themis and Broadway where pedestrians often frequent that area.It will also affect the Red Star access boat ramp. They should be finished by Thursday.

Some tips:

  • Think of another route around because the crossings will close for a period of time while they're making those repairs.
  • There could be parking problems in downtown Cape Girardeau along the railroad during the daytime hours  Monday through Thursday. Some lots will be closed. Others will remain open.
  • Once the daytime duties are done parking, will go back to normal.
