WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -
Officers with the Wilmington Police Department have identified the victim in a shooting that sent one man to the hospital.
Officials say Korey Beatty, 35, arrived at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment early Sunday morning.
Beatty told police he was hit by gunfire in the 800 block of South 15th Street after leaving the club Good Times Lounge on Dawson St shortly after 3 a.m.
According to officers, Beatty was the passenger in a car traveling down 15th Street when gunfire erupted. Beatty was struck twice, one in his hand and the other in his shoulder, by two different bullets. The driver of the car took him to the hospital moments later.
His injuries are considered non-life-threatening.
Upon review of the scene, Lt. Lanier with the Wilmington Police Department said officers found four shell casings in the area. The Criminal Investigative Division also combed the area for further evidence.
No arrests have been made in this case so far. Lanier said that police are looking for a 6'0" male with slim build in connection to the shooting. He was last seen wearing a red hat, dark jeans, and a white T-shirt.
Witnesses told police that they saw the suspect run away towards Wooster St. after the shooting.
