Restaurant heavily damaged by fire in Calabash

Coleman's Original Seafood Restaurant located at 9931 Nance St in Calabash was heavily damaged by a fire late on Saturday night.

The call was reported shortly after 11:30 PM on Saturday night.

According to Brunswick County Fire Marshal, Scott Garner, crews found heavy smoke on arrival.  Flames broke through shortly after.

Firefighters battled the blaze for just over an hour before getting it under control.

According to a release, while the roof and front portion of the business were heavily damaged no one was injured and firefighters were able to save many family pictures and mementos belonging to restaurant owners.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Sunset Beach, Grissettown & Longwoood, the Horry County Fire Departments, as well as Calabash and Brunswick County EMS assisted the Calabash Fire Department and responded to the blaze.
