We're just days away from the annual high school football jamboree and the coaches are getting ready for the showdown.
Coaches from across the area gathered Tuesday for a lunch ahead of the unofficial kick-off of Friday night football.
The focus of the event was Coach Joe Miller, who passed away in May. He was a legend in the local sports world, with a successful career that spanned decades.
He was also a driving force behind the Jamboree, which raises money for scholarships.
"Looking at Coach Miller and the lessons I learned from him and how much he loved New Hanover County. Yes, he coached at New Hanover, but anybody that knew him and what he did for all the schools, and that's something we got to keep sight on," said Kevin Motsinger, Head Coach at New Hanover High School.
The BB&T High School Football Jamboree takes place Friday.
This year, North Brunswick joins the line-up, taking the place of Jacksonville.
