WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

The American Red Cross is still in urgent need for blood and platelet donations even after recent blood drives.

During the month of July, the Red Cross had about a 7.5 percent increase in donors that resulted in more than 11,800 additional units of blood being donated according to officials, but it's still not enough.
