WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Family and friends are taking to the streets to remember Wilmington's most recent murder victim, Julian Gibson.

The 24-year-old was shot and killed while sitting on a front porch along 12th Street Saturday morning.

Gibson and another woman, Sandra Pollock were both injured in the shooting and taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where Gibson was later pronounced dead.

Tuesday night, about two dozen friends and family members gathered at the same location where Julian Gibson was killed over the weekend, begging for the suspect to come forward.

Singing songs and lighting candles, they hope the ceremony helps with the healing, and also spreads awareness about youth violence in the city.

"People, stop the violence. Think about things before you do them," said a tearful Phyllis Gibson about her nephew's death. "Don't let a small incident turn into something as big as this as to take someone's life."

Gibson said she knows who killed her nephew, but did not want to say. Instead she hopes that Julian's killer will come forward and turn himself in.

"I'm pretty sure, I know in my heart because I've been praying on this...that the person who did this is thinking about this and wishing that he could take it all back. Think before you pull the trigger," she said.

Gibson is survived by his 2-year-old daughter Guliana Carullo, who lives with her mother in Tennessee.

Investigators are still looking for a suspect in connection to the shooting.

If you have any information regarding the incident, please call the Wilmington Police Department at (910) 343-3600.
