SOUTHEASTERN, NC (WECT) -
Some traffic headaches are on the path to being resolved.
The Cape Fear RPO Rural Transportation Advisory Committee chose its top projects in Pender, Brunswick, and Columbus counties Tuesday morning.
They assigned 2,600 points to more than 30 regional and divisional transportation projects. Some projects include widening NC 211 and US 701 to four lanes.
This is just one step in a very long prioritization process to see things changed.
"Some of the projects are certainly going to be completed and some of the projects are certainly going to have funding challenges," explained Allen Serkin, Cape Fear RPO Director. "Even though we are going to give them the full point amount that we can give them, that's really the most that the RPO can do and the rest is in DOT's hands."
ND DOT divisions 3 and 6 will also officially assign points to their high priority projects. All of the scores will be sent to the state.
State officials will determine the highest ranking projects and ultimately what will be funded.
