Kaitlin Stansell started working at WECT in June of 2013. She was behind the scenes as a producer before working her way up to an on-air position. She is now a multimedia journalist bringing Southeastern NC its news headlines as Carolina in the Morning's live reporter. She loves meeting new people and showcasing and telling stories from across the Cape Fear region.
Kaitlin grew up in Anderson, South Carolina, where she would entertain her family with live, local broadcasts straight from her backyard. She's had a passion for journalism from a young age, always curious about peoples' lives and telling their stories.
She started her journalism career at Wren High School as the editor-in-chief of "The Eye of the Hurricane." She continued her career path at the University of South Carolina, creating a news show for the campus TV station SGTV and graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in broadcast journalism.
Kaitlin's first job out of college was as a morning producer for ABC-affiliate NewsChannel 12 in New Bern, NC. It was during that time that Kaitlin first visited Wilmington and fell in love with the Port City. She felt at home in the beach towns of New Hanover County and was grateful to find an opening at WECT that allowed her to get on-air experience.
When she's not living out her dream as a news reporter, you can find Kaitlin cheering on her Gamecocks, going to country concerts, and trying different brunch spots around the Port City.
