Police: Anderson taxicab driver robbed of cash

ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

When a taxi driver went to make change for a customer, police said the man grabbed all her money and ran away in Anderson on Friday.

Anderson police said they were called to Benjamin and Lee streets about 5:30 a.m. where the robber had fled, leaving the driver moneyless.

The Yellow Cab driver said she picked up the man from the Carolina Inn about 4 a.m. who asked her to drive him around the "HorseShoe," according to the police report.

He asked to get out on Benjamin Street and if she could make change for a $100, police said. When she pulled out her money bag to give him the appropriate change for his $64.80 ride, the man grabbed the money and took off, according to the report.

Police tried searching for the thief but did not locate him.

Anyone with information on the robbery should call police or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
