Live telethon to kick off 2015 New Hanover Co. Relay for Life season

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) -

The New Hanover County 2015 Relay for Life season is kicking off with a bang. The American Cancer Society is teaming up with Stand Up To Cancer, also known as SU2C, to raise money for cancer research.

On September 5, 2014, a viewing party of the SU2C live telethon will happen at UNCW's Trask Coliseum. The party starts at 6:30 p.m. and runs until 9:00 p.m. You have to register by August 15 to get involved. Officials say you can find all the sign up information you need at standup2finishthefight.org.

Registration is $25 per person which includes a T-shirt, liminara, live music, silent auction and food. Organizers hope to have more than 100 people sign up.

This is the first year an event like this will be held in Wilmington, NC, part of a nationwide campaign to gather supports of cancer research.
