MEXICO CITY (RNN) – A described “selfie obsessed” Mexican man is dead after he shot himself in the head while posing for a selfie.

Oscar Otero Aguilar, 21, was allegedly drunk at a friend’s house and took a photo in the Gustavo A. Madero borough of Mexico City. Aguilar had a .45 caliber wooden-handled handgun pointed at his forehead when it discharged and killed him, according to Proceso magazine.

Aguilar intended to post the selfie on Facebook. Instead, the Ministry of Public Safety said he was found dead at the scene. One of his friends, Omar Abner Campos Vives, was arrested. Another friend, only known as “El Paco” fled and is still currently on the run.

His death has been ruled an accident.

The New York Post said an autopsy on Aguilar will be conducted later this week.
