WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

A trip across state lines has a Wilmington based limousine company is facing heavy fines.

According to federal documents, VIP Limo of Wilmington LLC was fined $25,000 for operating violations.

The notice addressed to company owner Christopher Livingston states that a compliance review was conducted in Wilmington, North Carolina on May 8, 2014. The document goes on to say that violations were discovered in the review.

The notice states that on or about March 29, 2014 VIP Limo Of Wilmington LLC used driver Christopher Drea to transport passengers in a commercial motor vehicle in interstate commerce from Wilmington, NC to Myrtle Beach, SC.

The document explains that at the time of the incident, VIP Limo Of Wilmington LLC did not have the proper documentation needed to cross state lines.

North Carolina limousine industry officials warned against improper company operations earlier this summer. At the time, they noted that an official complaint had been filed against multiple companies in the Cape Fear Region.

When contacted via phone, a VIP Limo of Wilmington employee said that the owner would have to field any questions regarding the violation and fine.
