Your Week in Music: YouTube's most viral hits a pop spectacular

(RNN) – If you've ever uttered the words, “If I had a nickel for every time they played that Gangnam Style …” you are indeed right, you’d be loaded. Like “quit your job and hire your boss to shine your shoes” loaded.

YouTube released their Top 10 most played songs and, surprise, the K-pop earworm that you love to hate has racked up more than two billion views. (Fun Fact: There are only about seven billion people on the planet, putting Psy on track to reach all of them).

Probably because YouTube has only been around since 2005, the list reads like a Now (insert a number here) anthology for the last two to three years in pop radio. (WHERE ARE YOU THRILLER?!?! TAKE ON ME? ANYTHING before the invention of auto-tune?)

1. Psy: Gangnam Style - 2,054,594,609 views and counting

2. Justin Bieber featuring Ludacris: Baby - 1,069,215,634

3. Jennifer Lopez featuring Pitbull: On the Floor - 771,395,065

4. Eminem featuring Rihanna: Love the Way You Lie - 723,571,562

5. LMFAO: Party Rock Anthem - 722,615,788

6. Miley Cyrus: Wrecking Ball - 692,106,261

7. Lady Gaga: Bad Romance - 597,977,732

8. Carley Rae Jepsen: Call Me Maybe - 576,966,547

9. Don Omar featuring Lucenzo: Danza Kudro582,219,464

10. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis: Thrift Shop562,695,808

Dust to Dust

The Civil Wars have officially broken up.

The Grammy winning duo, which has been on hiatus since 2012, released a statement making their separation officially permanent, along with a parting gift, a download of You Are My Sunshine.

“[John Paul White] and I will always be grateful for the music we were able to create together. I sincerely hope that You Are My Sunshine will be accepted as a token of my gratitude for every single person that has supported our duo throughout the years,” said singer Joy Williams.

The song was originally a B-side to a Barton Hollow limited edition vinyl.

Download the song at www.thecivilwars.com.

Miss Lolla?

So did we. Thanks to the magic of the internets, you can watch it from your glorious office cube if you couldn’t make it to Chicago.

Select performances from Lollapalooza are available at www.lollapalooza.com, including Chvrches, Head and the Heart and Lorde.

And start making plans for next year. Lollapalooza 2015 runs July 31 - Aug. 2.

Selling Neverland

The ultimate piece of Michael Jackson memorabilia is going on the market – his Neverland ranch.

Forbes reports the 2,700-acre property Jackson called his home will soon be for sale.

“We are frustrated, bitterly disappointed and saddened that it has come to this,” a Jackson family representative told Forbes. “Sadly, Michael lost control of Neverland during his life as a result of advice from a former manager.”

Due to an equity agreement, the Jackson estate’s stake in the property decreases as an investment group put more money into the property.

A statement obtained by Forbes says the Jackson estate considered buying out the group’s share, but that has been “prohibitive given our duty as Executes to be fiscally responsible in protecting and growing the assets of the Estate for Michael’s children.”

New tunes from Blake Shelton

If seeing him three times a week on The Voice isn’t enough for you this fall, Blake Shelton’s dropping a new album to help fans keep up with their DDOB (Daily Dose of Blake, a clinical condition.)

Shelton’s 11th album, Bring on the Sunshine, drops Sept. 30, the singer said on Facebook.

We’ll keep you posted as more details become available.

New releases

Smokie Norful: Forever Yours - Aug. 5

Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers: Hypnotic Eye - July 29

Jenny Lewis: The Voyager - July 29

Upcoming releases

Kris Allen: Horizons - Aug. 12

Imogen Heap: Sparks - Aug. 19

Smokey Robinson: Smokey and Friends – Aug. 19

Colton Dixon: Anchor – Aug. 19

And finally …

Derek Klingenberg plays his trombone ‘til the cows come home.

That’s not just an expression about how long he plays. Klingenberg, a farmer, literally plays ‘til the cows come home.

Lorde appears to be the artist of choice for his four-footed friends, who come a-running when he plays.
