WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

A new way to test your blood pressure could be coming to the Port City. The Wilmington Health Center is in a trial period with a new app called Withings.

To check your blood pressure all you need is a wireless cuff and your Smartphone.

Once logged in the app automatically sync to your phone, and send your results directly to the doctor.

Wilmington Health representatives say this app puts their patients in control of their health.

"Having patients being able to check their levels more frequently will allow them to identify some of their triggers, "explained Holli White, Clinic Outcomes Analysis for Wilmington Health.

White says they are not wasting anytime testing the accuracy and efficiency of this new app.

"We are targeting patients with uncontrolled blood pressure and who are also diabetic," White said. "We feel like if we can help those who are the sickest of the sick, then we can defiantly expand it to people who have just one disease they are battling."

Wilmington Health is only one of four medical facilities in the nation testing this product.

If this trail period goes well, they plans to make this product available to all their patients within the next year.
