Murder indictments handed down in two Valdosta murders
Rufus Howard Ellis III was found shot to death in a parking lot at the Park Chase Apartment complex
Tawnya Kinslow was found shot to death inside her Valdosta home
VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -
Two Valdosta men are now facing murder indictments for two separate shootings.
A Lowndes County grand jury has indicted 20 year-old Jerry L. Gay for malice murder for the death of 42 year-old Tawnya Kinslow in August of 2013. Gay remains in the Lowndes County Jail and is also facing several other charges related to this incident.
A Lowndes County grand jury has also indicted 18 year-old Brian Levon Charlton-Simmons for felony murder for the death of 36 year-old Rufus Howard Ellis III in May of this year. Simmons also remains at the Lowndes County Jail.
"You never look forward to murder indictments because that means somebody was killed, obviously," said Lowndes County chief assistant district attorney Brad Sheeley. "What it means is that they will now have to face a trial here in Lowndes County Superior Court."
Sheeley said the trials for both cases will likely start in November or December.
