WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WECT) -

The road in front of a Wilmington hair salon is becoming flooded each time it rains.

The owners of Hairwaves on Burke Avenue near Wrightsville Beach said the flooding issue is effecting their business. Because their clientele are mostly senior citizens, they are unable to wade or drive through the water to get their haircut.

The pond causing problems is about a foot of standing water. With only four parking spaces in the lot, the flooding is causing issues for customers trying to get in and out of the salon.

"When they don't feel safe enough to drive up or get scared of getting in a pot hole" said owner Jane Davis. "That's not good. That's not good at all.

According to co-owner Jimmy Foster, they have been dealing with the water situation for over a year with no solutions.

"For the past year, every time it rains you know it fills right back up. And it won't go down for a couple of days," Foster explained.

City of Wilmington officials said they have checked out the road and discovered a drainage issue, but they are currently working to figure out who owns the property before taking any action.
