WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -
Opera House Theatre Company's latest production of the summer is Kiss Me, Kate.
The Cole Porter classic musical is a show within a show. The director of a theater company wants to put on a musical version of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. Members of his cast include his ex-wife, his latest fling and a gambler so, of course, the show does not go off without a hitch.
"It's just a fun show, and it's so clever and witty and Cole Porter is the closest thing to perfection on Earth," actor Nygel Robinson said.
And just because the show is a mix of modern and Shakespearean dialogue, the cast says don't let the high language scare you.
"It's not what you think," Robinson said. "When you look at it and you listen to it, it makes perfect sense. It's just like talking in everyday life except thou and ye and yea, but really it makes perfect sense and it's funny. I mean, you'll just laugh the entire time. There's never a time where you'll be like this is boring. It keeps you up the whole time."
One of the biggest dance numbers in the show is Too Darn Hot, incorporating dozens of singers and dancers. Click the video at the top of the page to see some moves and other clips from the show.
